N-Boc-4-piperidyl p-Methylbenzenesulfonate - Introduction
tert-Butyl 4-(toluene-4-sulfonyloxy) piperidine-1-carboxylate, also known as tert-butyl furan carboxylate (TFAA), is an organic compound.
Nature:
TFAA is a colorless to light yellow liquid with a special pungent odor at room temperature. It can be dissolved in ethanol, ether and chloroform, but also in some organic solvents, such as dimethyl ketone and methylene chloride. It is stable in air, but decomposes under ultraviolet light. TFAA is a strongly acidic compound that can react with some basic compounds to form salts.
Use:
TFAA is mainly used in the field of organic synthesis. It is commonly used as an acylating agent to convert carboxylic esters to anhydrides. It can also be used as a precursor for the generation of dipole disks for the manufacture of weak amplitude generators. In addition, TFAA can also be used in drug synthesis, catalyst preparation and electrochemistry.
Preparation Method:
The preparation method of TFAA is usually obtained by reacting toluene-4-sulfonyl chloride and N-methylpiperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester under alkaline conditions. In the reaction process, it is necessary to control the temperature and reaction time, and carry out the steps of neutralization and extraction at the same time, so as to obtain the pure product.
Safety Information:
TFAA has a pungent odor and care should be taken to avoid inhalation and contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes. Wear appropriate protective equipment such as gloves, goggles and masks during use. If you come into contact with TFAA, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention. During storage and transportation, TFAA should be kept away from heat sources and open flames, and avoid contact with oxidants and reductants. In addition, TFAA needs to be stored in a sealed container, away from moisture absorption and exposure to direct sunlight.
